Precious slag balls are widely used as abrasives for industrial use. They are manufactured by a method that includes spraying liquid steel slag using modern technology Slag Atomising Technology (SAT). Slag liquid slag is converted into ball balls of various sizes by supercooling molten slag using rapid heat exchange of falling liquid slag in a high-speed air flow. During this process, free CaO and Fe2O3 are scattered to form a solid PS ball and, thus, a stable spinel structure is obtained.
PS Ball Specifications
- They are environmentally friendly, because the material does not pollute the environment and is not toxic.
- Possesses natural characteristic hardness.
- Non-toxic due to properties caused by its structure, shape, physical and chemical composition.
- Its spinel structure provides stability in physical and chemical composition, eliminating any causes of pollution.
“Compared to sand, it has excellent compressive strength, hardness and weathering properties.
- PS Ball is a cost effective material compared to other mineral materials.
- The effectiveness of abrasive material makes it easy to recycle, reduce consumption and increase productivity. It can be processed up to 3-4 times depending on the hardness of the surface.
- This material is easier to produce and deliver compared to copper-slag and garnet mineral abrasive.
- Storage is easy.
- Lower levels of dust and pollutants make it less hazardous for use in various field operations and less harmful to the health of operators.
PS Ball Application
Unlike mineral abrasives, such as garnet, the PS ball does not completely contain dust, and this makes it suitable for use in surface preparation, rust removal and ship construction work. It is also widely used for servicing ships.
PS Balls are used in storage tanks for oil, building bridges, in the construction of heavy steel structures, on platforms of oil rigs, and so on. mainly for cleaning and surface preparation, and used for cleaning welded areas in storage tanks before repainting.
It can be used as an abrasive material, for cleaning the surfaces of materials and preparing them for painting.
Typical characteristics make PS balls ideal for blast cleaning because they ensure that materials are properly sprayed in size, density, hardness, and durability.
Due to the high specific weight of 2.42 kg / l, precious slag balls are widely used as a counter balance in many applications.
PS Ball is also used as a filtering medium, since it is not water-absorbent and very durable.
Thanks to its non-slip properties, PS balls can be used as a coating on the road or as a sidewalk for concrete and asphalt roads. It effectively sticks to asphalt or concrete and can be used there as an effective repair or reinforcing material for various purposes.
