What does the engine do? -2

Many people believe that the whole engine is just a big block that does all the work. This may be true, but what exactly is in this block that makes such a big car move and function?

Let's start with the driver. The driver would apply an acceleration pedal. This pedal delivers fuel to the combustion chamber. Depending on the type of car you have will depend on the type of fuel that you fill the tank. In this case, we will deal with a gasoline engine.

As soon as you enter the gasoline into the combustion chamber, the valve will open so that the flammable liquid enters the cylinder head. As a rule, there are two valves on the cylinder head, since in order to enter and exit the gas, it is necessary to enter and release a car to move and transfer gases.

The valves are closed and do not allow the introduction of additional air or gasoline, while the piston compresses gasoline. After the piston reaches the BDC or bottom dead center, the spark plugs will light gasoline. Then the piston will push the burned-out gases out of the exhaust valve so that the next bit of fuel gets into its chamber.

There is a set of piston rings around each piston. These rings seal any spaces that can pass through the air, and allow the piston to move smoothly. They also prevent oil from escaping from the pan to the combustion chamber. Each piston is connected to a connecting rod, which is attached to a crankshaft with a bearing.

The crankshaft transforms the up and down movement of the pistons into rotational motion. In other words, this is the part that makes the car move back and forth. Each time the time-aligned pistons are lowered, the crankshaft rotates.

The ignition system is connected to a synchronization system that simultaneously installs individual spark plugs. In a four-cylinder engine, these are the first and third spark plugs that are lit first, and then the second and fourth plugs.

After the engine has passed the cycle and reaches the fourth cylinder head, the second valve will open, thus releasing gases into the exhaust manifold, either moving into the turbo or directly to the exhaust pipe.

The car has many systems working together to make it the ultimate machine. In addition to the engine there is a brake system, an electronic system and a clutch system. Usually, when you take your car for maintenance, the mechanics check if the car needs clutch, engine or brake repairs before sending the car to a specialist.
