Preparing a meal with love - an exercise in awareness -2

I love food. I do not mean that I like it a little, I mean that I LOVE him a lot. And, over the years, I realized that something seems to be as simple as cooking, can make a huge difference in food and in your environment.

Remembering when I was a young girl, I have the most pleasant memories of cooking with my parents, both of whom were excellent cooks, and still are. My mom was a great cook and baker. She did everything from homemade bread, from cookies and pies, as well as from hearty salads and soups that warm you from the inside. There was nothing in the kitchen that she could do, and she always did it with the most organic, healthy, herbal ingredients she could handle. My dad was an expert in Italian and Armenian cuisine. Trained by his parents, who had a restaurant when he was a boy, he could cook spaghetti or Kufta, which would make your taste buds sing.

I always wanted to help them cook, and they always let me. At an early age, I began to learn cooking methods, for example, knowing when to knead the dough, how long it can be lifted, and how to be gentle so that the yeast responded. I learned that slow cooking will improve the taste of tomato sauce, and that digesting things will remove all good enzymes.

But the most valuable was the study of the importance of cooking with a special mindset. I mean that when a person cooks with love, food has its own taste differently than when it arises from a sense of unhappiness or resentment. I decided to cook early when I was in the best mood, because the food fed the energy of my thinking, feeling myself. Now this may seem strange, but let me explain a little further. Gregg Braden, author of the New York Times, known worldwide as a pioneer in science and spirituality, now discusses the scientific fact that we all have an electromagnetic field around our hearts. And it is very simply said that this means that, nevertheless, we feel that whatever our emotions or state of mind, this feeling comes from our hearts and into our environment. We managed to measure this, and I am sure that we all know how to be close to someone and immediately feel them.

As far as food is concerned, as shown in the movie “Like Water for Chocolate”, our emotions have a direct impact on what we prepare with our own hands. If I cook a cake from scratch, and I have great music, and I am happy with the cooking, knowing that I can share this cake with people I care about, then I put positive energy into cooking. If I cook food, but I'm in a frustrated mood, and all I can think about is more things that make me unhappy, then this is what I put in my food. Have you ever wondered why when two people make the same recipe, is it different from the other? Think that both people, although with the same recipe, were in two different emotional places when they did it.

So how can you work with this idea? Let me suggest a few things below to try the next time you eat, because remember that cooking is also an act of creativity.

Make sure you are in a good mood when you cook. Even if all you do is cutting vegetables for a salad, do it from a good place, think about positive thoughts, focus on something you like, or play your favorite music.

Create a sense of beauty while you eat. If you live alone or have a lot of people in your family, you can always create a beautiful table. Instead of eating outside the box, eat your food on a pretty plate, put a flower on the table, light a candle, use beautiful dishes. Play soothing music while you eat, and give thanks before eating. Practice thinking about positive things while you eat or talk about positive things with those with whom you eat. Let your food be a deliberate and enjoyable event.

Slow down. We are all used to eating so fast that our bodies do not even get the opportunity to properly digest our food. Practice your time with meals.

Eat healthy, organic foods whenever possible to avoid any sprays or pesticides, as they also have a negative effect on the body.

Avoid fast food and microwave. By the time any of them is in your mouth, all the enzymes and food life will disappear. Vigorously, it's not as close as healing, like unprocessed food.

Eat live food whenever possible. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is like eating sunlight when it comes to eating healthy.

Most of all, enjoy your meal. Food is one of the gifts we receive when we are here in a physical body, so use it to honor your body, choose wisely what you put in your mouth, and also how much you eat. Remember that "your belly is the size of your fist, not a barrel of a wheel," as Wayne Dyer says.

To drink a lot of water. It works to cleanse the body. Remember that we are composed of 75-80% water.

Remember how we do everything, how we do everything. This is the practice of mindfulness, and it can be applied to all areas of your life. When we start from the place of intention, love and kindness, our hearts expand, and our life becomes richer and fuller.
