Leather boots - care and cleaning -2

What skin are your shoes made of finished or unfinished leather? Finished leather is the most common component in women's shoes. Unfinished leather is usually found only on working boots and should be treated differently than boots with finished leather. A simple test can be used to determine which type of leather shoes you have:

Place a small amount of skin cleanser (preferably in the form of foam) on a leather boot. For this test, it is better to use skin cleanser; If water is used, some skins will hydrophobic (made waterproof), and then it will give false impression of the finish line. If the cleaner is easily absorbed, the boots are unfinished. If the solution sits on the surface for a while, there is some kind of finish on the skin. The strength of the finish will be indicated by the absorption rate.

General care: Best for unfinished skin boots - Neatsfoot oil or oil of any skin condition, for example, for baseball gloves or saddles. Just spread a generous bag on your skin and let it absorb all night. Remove excess oil with a soft cloth. Ready leather can be supported with any high-quality varnish - for example, used to maintain gloss on military boots. For best results, follow the instructions on the Polish container.

Stain removal : Attacking skin stains is always a risky job. Try to always have a leather conditioner and leather cleaner or - you can always professionally clean your boots (expensive!). Many times these two options are not practical or available for various reasons, and sometimes in a store bought by a skin cleanser will not remove certain blemishes. If you try any of the following ways to remember that all leather boots are different, and cleaning products can damage, change color and appearance, or cause cracking of the skin. When trying to use different cleaners and methods, first use a small inconspicuous area and let the previous cleaner dry out before trying the next one. Finally, always use a leather conditioner after each cleaning. This will help you save your shoes for the last time and be with your wardrobe for a long time.

· Common spots : If you do not have a skin cleanser, try these household items. First try using a wet sponge. Water will not damage the skin. Work the wet sponge into the stain. Let dry and check. If this does not work, try baby wipes. Wipe the painted area and allow to dry. If this does not work, try a window cleaner, such as Windex. Spray directly onto the stain and wipe with a paper towel and allow to dry. After using these methods, whether they work or not, be sure to use a leather conditioner. Otherwise, the skin can dry out and crack, creating a number of problems.

· Water stains : Let your soaked boots dry slowly and naturally. If you have a pair of boot trees, put them in your shoes and let them air dry. Clean white rags or cotton towels may replace. This will absorb moisture and help your boots keep their shape. Keep your boots away from heat sources and restore softness with a leather conditioner after they dry.

· Ink stains Spray the affected area with hair spray. Wipe with a clean cloth. Ink removal is difficult and may require professional cleaning for satisfactory removal.

· Mold stains Mix 1 cup by rubbing alcohol with 1 cup of water. Moisten a clean cloth with the mixture and wipe the affected area. Let the air dry. Apply conditioner after drying.

· Salt spots : Mix 3 parts white vinegar with 1 part water. Moisten a clean cloth with a solution of water / vinegar and apply to the affected area. Let it dry. Apply conditioner after drying.

· Chewing spots: Wipe the affected area with a plastic bag filled with ice cubes to harden the gums. Carefully remove the rubber after it has hardened. For any temporary rubber band, heat the resin with a hair dryer and wipe it with a clean cloth.

· Grease stains : Drain off excess grease with a clean cloth. Sprinkle talcum powder or cornstarch on the affected area. Let them sit by No less than 4 hours. After that, wipe off the powder and if necessary.

No two skin types are alike. The skin is made from different animals, stained differently and ends with different procedures and chemicals. The above procedures give only a general idea of household products that can be useful when cleaning your leather boots. Many times they not only work better than commercial skin cleansers, but are much more economical. Happy cleaning!
