Beautiful South Africa. Africa is home to many wonderful cultures and experiences. One of these visions is whale migration along 1,200 miles of coastline. Where the two oceans meet on the southern tip of Africa, you will find many cultures that only the Western Cape can offer. Here you can watch whales both from land and from the sea.
Every year, southern whales move through the waters during mass migration. Here you can witness the fatherland and the feeding of your joyful and playful young people. These beautiful creatures can be seen at a distance of meters from the shore. Because the whale venture is so close, it allows you to watch the best whales in the world. When do you see this miracle? The best time to witness this event is from June to November. You can also see other beautiful whales in the Western Cape. Humpback whales migrate in the same area between May and December, and Bryde whales can be seen a little further on the shelf throughout the year.
The whales follow the trail to the south of Cape Town and go as far as Durban. The route passes through many protected areas, such as the Tsitsikamma National Park, the Garden Route and Transkei.
There are over 37 species of dolphins and whales that can be found in South Africa. The route is best known for its encounters with humpback whales and southern whales, as well as with several species of coastal dolphins. There are many different types of marine life and birds to see as well. Along with whales and dolphins, you can also see fur seals of mice, African penguins and black pinworms. The Cape Kit route reaches 560 miles from Doringbai to the mouth of the Storm River, which is located in Tsitsikamm National Park.
