When I was a child growing up in central California, downtown San Jose was a place to avoid. Several years ago, Mayor Tom McHenry began a project to revitalize the city center, which spawned a surprisingly new or renovated area. San Jose is the largest of the cities in the Bay area, which bears its name as a rival in the north of San Francisco. San Jose has both more people and a much larger land area than San Francisco.
One of the latest additions to the city center is the new city hall with a transparent dome, which evokes an image of transparency in a government like this (on a smaller scale) of the Reichstag in Berlin.
Many visitors to the city center have become convention visitors at the San Jose Convention Center, named after former mayor Tom McHenry. This modern facility helps to attract visitors to the city center.
HP Pavilion also has geographic locations and visitors, so the reason for returning to the city center. The HP Pavilion is located just on the other side of Route 87 from the rest of the city center, but it easily moves from one to the other. In addition to being home to San Jose sharks, the pavilion is also a popular concert venue.
You don't have to be a hockey fan to enjoy the energy of San Jose Shark fans in teal. When preparing to play shark this turn. Place both hands straight in front of you, one above the other, palms facing each other. Place your hands apart and together, and you are ready to "split" another team.
Another popular sports team is the only farming team for the giants of San Francisco, the giants of San José, who play in the municipal stadium south of downtown. If you didn’t have a chance to watch a league baseball game, Bull Durham’s movie with billboards for local businesses on the fence. This is Silicon Valley, some of these local businesses are advertising bases instead of steaks. Go to watch the kids participate in a talisman rally around the bases or rivals trying to knock out the truck lights with a fastball to win a prize.
Since San Jose gets 300 days of sunshine a year, a great place to catch a meal at a cafe on the sidewalk on San Pedro Square, but many other restaurants are also located in the city center. For a budget lunch, try a La Victoria burrito or a Askew kabob. For amateur food, one of my favorite classic local restaurants is Paulos.
A large museum for young children is the Children's Discovery Museum on Wes Way (named after the founder of Apple and the big baby Steve Wozniak). Older children and adults will also enjoy the center of a technical museum that celebrates science and innovation, which created a miracle that is Silicon Valley. The theater also has an IMAX theater.
My favorite place for a live theater in the city center is San Jose Rep, which seats about 6 games a year in an impressively intimate theater. There are no bad places in the ward. If comedy is to your liking, then look at Comedy Sports comic style.
The city center can be reached by car or via CalTrain, Amtrack and bus.
