Soft Vs Hard Skills - Pros and Cons? -2

We face various problems at different stages of our scientific, social and working life. All this will be either a “soft” or a “hard” skill that will govern our success in the areas we pursue. To succeed, we don’t have to concentrate on the “HARD” skills that we describe as your “technical” skills in your own areas of expertise. We will need to use our SOFT skills. The questions we need to ask ourselves are “What are the advantages and disadvantages of Soft and Hard Skills or vice versa?” And “What is more important?” How can we unleash our inner power of soft skills in any arena?

Some of them are listed below, and not just those areas that I found more suitable for further discussion for those who want to use their Soft Skills that will complement their diligent skills in the business and social world!

  1. Customer evaluation skills (mentality and reaction)
  2. “Need for V Want”
  3. "The effect of analyzing the effects and causes"
  4. Mental physical observation skills
  5. "Listen, Digest and Request"
  6. Team Building Skills
  7. Share vs Take

All of the above are some ingredients or points that I have experienced in my social and business arena. Thus, it does not affect the whole range of soft skills that most people understand. Instead, these are areas that, I believe, we need to build as a foundation for greater heights.

"Difficult" skills can be obtained through a series of structured classes in the classroom or online lectures and training. While soft skills and sharpness, on the other hand, are not so straightforward. You will need to go through a series of interactions and scenarios to fully understand how each area will affect the final result. To fully maximize the above, we must first understand ourselves in terms of our inner natural personality and characters. How we more effectively use the following.

1. Customer evaluation skills (mentality and reaction)

Probably, each of them was already in this position before one or another path, but how many of you really understand what the mentality and reaction of the Client is to a certain participation? Why is there a relationship between the relationship between the customer and the supplier? A person, on the one hand, can be a customer at one end, as well as a supplier, this is true if we are an intermediary who relies on suppliers for his products to carry out our products and sell them to our customers (consumption of final products).

So how would you rate a customer’s request and mentality? This can be achieved or accomplished by encouraging interactive communication with customers in the following areas:

  • Learn to interact effectively with Q & A.
  • Collect information with proper data capture
  • Understanding customer input and output
  • How will the customer require your help?
  • What is the critical success factor (CSF) and key performance indicator (KPI) from the client’s point of view?
  • Supply and demand model
  • Essential basis for value added services

Thus, if you can collect the above points, you will be able to understand how customer requirements and NEEDS instead of WANT will be fulfilled for long-term value-added services. This will be discussed in the next section.

2. "Needs and desires." Thinking analysis skills

What are the differences between them and their end results? How this factor will affect your long-term relationship with your customers (external or internal). Thanks to my past observations and experiences, the thought “Want” usually arises from human nature and desires! These are not long-term requirements, as this may arise only due to some of the following factors.

  • Peer pressure
  • Environment, social and technological development
  • Inner physical and mental desire
  • Product evolution

I only list the factors above that I encountered and encountered from my past experience. The foregoing can not be the last factors that affect human nature and the desire for the thought "Want." Please keep in mind that this is not in any order of importance. Instead, if you understand this, it will definitely help you in the analytic situation. This is an area that is not very straightforward, because a person may or may not even know what their “needs” are or what they “want”? These are obstacles that everyone must overcome and clear the way. Until that time, you will probably satisfy your customers through “Want” instead of long-term “Needs”.

Thus, “Needs” are long-term requirements that will build value-added services in order to achieve certain goals, such as cost control, cost savings, profit jump, etc. Meanwhile, “desire” can satisfy only short-term and unrealistic value, which may not even affect anything other than the nature of human desire.

3. "Causes and consequences."

It may seem that this may not have a big impact on the success of an individual using his own inner mental skills in the social and business world. But I firmly believe in this, and I have already encountered several scenarios that impede the progress of certain designated projects.

Let's see how “Cause” can have a certain “effect” on the Customer / Supplier relationship. In this universe, we are always surrounded by the results of "Cause" and "Effect" that not many of you could meet during this life, but this is likely to happen in the business world. If you do not understand or are mistaken in the client’s “Needs”, the “Effect” will increase when you are going to deliver final products or results.

The worst scenarios are likely to be a total deviation from customers, and this, in turn, will have a very large impact on the profitability of a company. Therefore, in order not to fall into this trap. You will need to look further at your inner mental skill to help you determine the “needs” and the impact on it. Please keep in mind that this is not only one factor that may affect the overall result, but without proper work with TEAM will also lead to negative results.

Thus, "Cause" will always lead to a direct "effect" on the final results. This can be a very powerful impact if not carefully handled through proper tracking and analysis. To achieve this, as well as unleash your power inside, no one will be more successful with the unity of effort TEAM!

4. Skills of mental and physical observation

Most of you may be wondering why “Mental” and “Physical” observation skills are also part of “Soft skills” in my context. You may also be wondering how Mental observation will be conducted during a session of social and business interaction. Why is mental observation more accurate than physical observation skills? This will certainly give us the skills of “Need” and “Want”, although the skills of analysis. We did say that “Need” is more long-term requirements than “Want”, which is only the human desire of nature on a very short-term basis.

Thus, Mental will probably work hand in hand with the Need analysis technique, which will provide an understanding of what the other party needs in its long-term requirements. But not everyone will be able to use this skill, if you are not aware of how exactly mental skills skills work?

Mental in itself means nothing, except that you, in combination with the analytical skills of “Need” to collect information, can outweigh the “physical” results of observation. But there are accidents or situations that prevent you from maximizing or using your old skill. I managed to master this skill thanks to intense social networks and interaction with people. Not only the interaction, but also the collection and analysis of each individual "desired" Vs "Want". This can be done with the help of a number of items listed in the subtitle “Need” Vs “Want”. This skill will need to be sharpened through full interaction with others, and not with the help of any books or articles that explain the process.

Thus, the “mental observation” skill does not stand out by itself, but it will require a combination with the “Necessity” skill to achieve the final results. This is aimed at long-term customer needs.

5. "Listen, digest and query." Skills

Many times when I participated in group conferences or meetings in a business or social environment, I have always come across different categories of employees, employees or team members. Some may be very involved in asking a lot of questions, some of them can provide many explanations or answers, and some even just sit quietly throughout the session without noticing his / her existence.

Therefore, it may not be very effective if you are always one who is an Inspector, Speaker or Listener. Worst of all will be the last category, which will be the group "ALL YES". Because this group will simply accept something along the way, but will back off when it is not in the right directions. Therefore, to ensure or unleash this, you will definitely need to learn the skills “Listen, digest and query”, which will allow you to fully reflect all the requirements.

After you implement the “Listen” technique, you will be able to listen and record the right information to make the right decision at a later stage! When you control this part, the “Digest” part is where you will analyze and evaluate the captured information to the next level of confirmation. If during this time any comments arise, you can “Request” more on the information provided and clarify its accuracy. Most of the time, many people simply jump into the final conclusion after the “Digest” level, which may or may not have unexpected observations that may appear later.

Thus, “Listen, Digest and Request” should always be implemented, whether you are at a public meeting or at business meetings. This will completely eliminate any unwanted conflicts at a later stage and will help improve relations on a long-term basis.

6. Team Building Skills

For all my years, either in the social, volunteer or career arena, I sincerely believe that no one can survive in the mentality or the world of the “Lone Ranger”! Everyone needs everything to fulfill the main goals or the final result. Just as a building can only be built with the help of a team of specialists, without any such experience, we will not be able to have a full-fledged permanent building for work or residence.

Therefore, we will need to make sure that we have already learned how to mix any teams to work together to achieve common goals. This skill is not like any other mental abilities, it can be trained and instructed using a series of guides. It all depends on the individual level of admission in terms of their achievements through mentoring. Working in teams will also ensure the full advantage of the right tasks performed by the respective experts at the highest level of confidence and end results.

Therefore, please keep in mind that all people need a team to survive or achieve certain goals or objectives. During this team building, you will also learn how to use the “Share” instead of the “Take” mentality. In my context, “Sharing” means voluntarily providing your experience and training or leadership to others who want to learn and succeed in achieving their goals! Such an act will be considered as the attitude of the Contributor to any person and will reach great heights. But not all people have the opportunity to share their knowledge or something, since everything depends on individual capabilities or experience or impact on achievements. Some people will “take” most of the materials that will make them “Doers”, rather than “Achievers” or “Leaders”.

Thus, Share is always good for building a strong team, which, in turn, will help you in some way to achieve everything that you have set out. “Sharing” you also instruct or direct young learners to higher heights in their endeavors.

7. “Share” with “Take” skills

In the previous section, I mentioned the differences between the skills “Share” Vs “Take”. Let's now look at this in more detail.

There are people who might think that “why should I share so much?” And “What if I get overtaken by dividing too much?” And “What if I lose my job or become obsolete after sharing knowledge?” you may not even know the nature of “sharing” and how it attracts such strengths or personality category.

When you begin your delicate exchange, you are already going up to the next level, which is a mentor. At this level you have already reached a certain level of academic achievement in your skills! It is at this level that when you share, you will also be based on new knowledge of other people. My principle and experience have already told me that with more sharing you gain more knowledge about your knowledge. This is a law of energy and synergy, when each party in a group will have the same qualities and mentality.

In fact, I will not give up the fact that there are a lot of people whom I called the “Ticker”, which accepts only what other people share. They may or may not be in the upper part, as they are very often deceived from the separation group after implementing the zero factor contributing to this group. So, if we want to succeed in the world in any form, let it not be too controlled by your division, what you know, and what you learn. If you can discover your growth and intelligence, positive results also expect success.

Thus, “Exchange” is an act of dignity and mentorship without any intention of expecting any expectations from anyone! It will be the most generous part of your heart, and it will build stronger and better relationships with everyone who comes your way, be it the social, volunteer, or career world.

All of the above is based on my past experience, as well as a lesson learned through the social, volunteer, career and business environment of the world! I share this to give you a general idea of how you can unleash your inner soft skills in order to reach great heights in life. I did not consider all the skill sets, because I feel that the above are the main basic components we need to work on before moving on to other skills. If you feel that the article is missing items, please let me know, and I am more than ready to discuss or explore you further. I would like you to enjoy the article and feel free to provide your feedback or comments (if any) so that I can improve myself further. My principle is to share as much as I can, and learn as I can, from any person with the same level of interest.
