This year was a real surprise for me, in fact it was a record record. This year, sales of electric barbecues, grills and grid bins beat sales of charcoal and gas barbecues for a huge amount, which is x3 +. These are my own figures based on sales in the UK, which may be different in other countries. In addition, my data is based on my personal data on the Internet, so do not include retail sales from supermarkets or other offline suppliers.
Regardless of everything, here in the UK, we make our own choices, but our thought processes and decisions are very often related to the fact that we I can not change - our weather!
Despite the weather, many people buy electric grills, barbecues and grids, and there are many advantages. One advantage most UK residents will not be we realize that we have, this is what our standard mains voltage is 230 volts. In the USA, the standard mains voltage is 120 volts AC. If you plug in a 2000 W electric griddle in the USA, it will use just over 16.6 A, which is quite a lot. In the UK, the same griddle (designed for 230 volts) will use about 8.7 amps. This is because when you double the voltage, you half current strength
Higher mains voltages, like in the UK, Australia and many other countries, have many advantages. An electric barbecue grill quickly recovers lost heat at a higher voltage. In addition, since a higher voltage reduces the current consumed by a home grill or barbecue, the cables can be thinner. If you look at large electrical pylons, you will notice how thin the cables look. This is partly because you see them at a safe distance, and partly because the voltage on these transmission lines exceeds 120,000 volts. This high voltage allows you to supply a large amount of current.
There are other absolutely great reasons for an electric barbecue, grill or griddle. One of the reasons, although not the most important, is that they are so cheap to buy! Here are some more good reasons:
- As mentioned, the price
- They can be used indoors regardless of the weather.
- They do not emit a cloud of poisonous gaseous carbon monoxide.
- You do not suddenly find that you do not have charcoal, or that the gas cylinder is empty
- Fully acceptable for use on a balcony or patio where open flames may be prohibited.
Like standard grilles, such as George Foreman’s brilliantly functional assortment, they also have much more exciting designs and types. Andrew James has fantastic electric grills, grills and barbecues. The Andrew James Red BBQ Grill is a modern design masterpiece. Another fabulous electric grill that Andrew James has made incredibly popular is the Teppanyaki grill / grill. These grilles are mainly made for indoor use, although they can be taken outside of acceptable weather conditions. Teppanyaki style grilles have extremely large cooking zones that lose a lot of heat in windy conditions. It is clear that this is not a problem in fixed conditions or when used indoors.
