A garage workspace is a must for every homeowner who has a “attitude. Consider your future projects and suggest an ideal work area in your garage. Then buy or build the perfect workbench for your needs.

Accommodation is the key

Choose the best place for your garage tool. If you park vehicles in a garage, place your workbench in a place that allows you to make the most of your work space.

If your home and garage are attached, your choice of accommodation may be limited. Placing a garage workbench on a common wall is a good idea to facilitate the installation of an electrical outlet. It will also be the area that will give you the warmest during the colder months. Some sound insulation should be considered, so people in the house are not disturbed by noise. If your garage is worth one, it may be easier to choose an area. Ideally, place your work space for the garage along a bare wall to have enough space for cabinets and a shelf on one or both sides of the workbench. By placing your workplace on the opposite wall of the window, you will get the most natural light.

If space is a problem, a folding workbench for a garage takes up little space when not in use. They are often designed with space in the closet to hang tools and equipment, and the hinged bench bends into this space, pressing it under its feet. When you need to work, just turn around the top, support your legs and get to it. Choose one with a foot system that is strong enough for your needs. Make sure there is enough space to work when the bench is laid out.

Height is important

The workplace should be above the table, since you must be able to stand and work comfortably, while your arms are bent at a right angle. Some experts believe that the height of the tabletop should be at the level of your navel or on the crease of your wrist. Others find it more convenient and comfortable at a higher level. If you need additional working room and support, consider the height of your table saw and place it together as a whole. You can set up a prototype bench by placing a sheet of plywood on some blocks to determine which height is best for you.

Keep every tool within reach.

Do you have more tools than your local store? The desk should have a large enough tabletop for storing various saws, grinders and other power tools for easy access. Installing wall cabinets and racks above or below the workbench will greatly facilitate the task of your organization. Check out the many options available: from open wooden shelving to stainless steel cabinets specifically designed for garage wear. They should provide you with enough space to store the tools, manage all the equipment that comes with home improvement, and discard all unfinished work. Some designs of workbenches for garages have a built-in wardrobe system, which is very practical when attached to a garage wall. If you find that the surface of your workbench is insufficient, think about setting up an additional worktop in a different place in the garage.

Do not forget about Pegboard!

For each workspace, a padboard is needed in which a variety of things will be placed: from tools and cords to ribbons and work apron. Be sure to install your garage workbench on the wall, which will leave you enough room for a good peg-dog. If necessary, add additional boards elsewhere in the garage. Some workbenches are available with a built-in padboard, often located along the back of the bench.

Good project - Workbench kit or your own?

Various tool kits are available on the market. Choose the one that best suits your needs. Consider a large stainless steel garage for your garage if you plan to use it often and want extra strength. Make sure that you have all the necessary tools to build, and, if necessary, shop for new ones! You will most likely want to get more handy tools for your new workspace. Please note that some necessary hardware may not be included.

If you prefer to build it yourself, find plans and projects online or browse carpentry books and magazines. You should be able to find work plans that are not only simple to implement, but also require the availability of available materials.

No matter which garage tool you choose to organize your new workspace, it will motivate you to initiate many interesting projects.
