Perimeter and rotational protection for volleyball -2

The previous article, “The game of defense during youth volleyball - what you need to know,” outlined for the youth volleyball team the basics of defensive positioning. This article and this suggest that you play with six players on the court. To further expand volleyball protection, 2 very robust and frequently used defensive strategies will now be discussed. It should be noted that each begins with the players moving from an offense to a “basic defense”. The basic defense has three players in the grid with an average blocker right in the middle and 2 side blockers on both sides approximately 8 feet from the middle blocker. The back row players form a triangle with a middle back player, like the top of a triangle, in the middle of the court, 2 or 3 feet from the back line, and two other players, from 2 to 3 feet from the sidelines and 2 to 3 feet from the attack line.

From these positions, players watch their opponents, fulfilling their crime and reacting to the direction of the attack. In the perimeter defense, the main goal is to dig up the attacks of the attacking enemy. When an opponent's setter sets the ball to the left (when you are facing the net), the left front and front middle moves block the attack in the net. The right front or outer blocker is shuffled back from the net to the line of attack and from 8 to 10 feet from the right sideline. This allows the offside blocker to protect against shocks and rolls. As the front row moves to defense against an attack on the left side, the back row also moves. The left rear takes a step or two back and closer to the left sideline. The middle back moves a step or two to the right and approaches the baseline. and the right rear takes 3 or 4 steps back along the right sideline. At this stage, the defense defended the “perimeter” of the court; Line shots can be dug, and cross court strokes dug by players of the middle and right flanks. The movement of players, if the attack of the enemy comes from your right side, is just the opposite of what has been described. Players of the middle front and right front move together to block, offside (left front player) retreats from the net and to the middle of the court. In the back row there is a right back, going back and to the right sideline. The average player of the back slides to the left and remains on the return line. The left rear player moves back and to the left sideline. Perimeter defense is very effective when playing against the hard blows of opponents.

One of the areas that protect the perimeter is hardly defended - it is a shot in a roll and a shot from a gorse over the blocker or similar shots in the middle of the court just outside the line of attack. Young teams are usually not strong enough to effectively punch the ball with precision, power and accuracy. Many teams that lack the strength and skill level will try to hit the ball, jerk off or throw shots. The best protection, providing more protection and defense for these types of attacks, is called “rotational” protection. As in perimeter defense, defensive defense begins with players in their “basic” defensive positions. When a team sees a set of opponents, they begin to move into their defensive positions. First-line players also react to the middle and outer players that make up the block. "Out of the game," the first-line player falls off the net beyond a 10-foot line and 2 or 3 feet from the sideline. The back-row player who is directly ahead or the attacking opponent moves up the ten-foot line between the two blockers. The middle back moves back to the sideline where the attack is coming from, and positions itself at a distance of 3 to 5 feet from the baseline. The opposing back defender positions himself diagonally from the attacker, for reference, this player is in the diagonal corner at a distance of several feet from the sideline and the baseline.

With the right performance, you will see that 6 players move as one, almost in dance. It's great to watch, and reliable protection can really hinder your opponents.
