“Gateway to the country of Texas Hill”, “Dripping Springs” has hills, rocks, and a wonderful wild life. Dripping Springs is about 30 miles west of Austin on Highway 290. It’s a fairly small town of about 1,500 people.

Kpping Springs was named after the natural spring and was a popular gathering place for Tonkawa Indians. Sources are located near the street Mercer. This is a beautiful site and worth the time to stop and visit.

Dripping Springs is also known for its Bar-B-Que. Salt Lick Restaurant is world famous and has been shown on many television shows, and more recently on Man Versus Food. Well worth a short trip to Driftwood to try some of this good food!

Another place to visit close to Kapt Springs is the Hamilton Pool. This natural deep-sea pool is located just 10 miles from the sources to be surcharge. There are swimming, picnics, hiking; There is also a beautiful waterfall, which is a great place to see. For more information on the Hamilton Bullet, 512-264-2740. Their clocks allow the weather, so be sure to call in advance.

Another site that can be seen is Westkave Nature Reserve, a rocky limestone with many rare and endangered plants. The reserve is located on Hamilton-Bill Road, just a few miles from Hamilton-Bilba. Pedernales State Park is just 15 miles west of Kapitu Springs and is a beautiful scenic park along the Pedernales River. Visitors can enjoy hiking, swimming, picnics, snorkeling and much, much more.

Dripping Springs is convenient for many surrounding cities and has beautiful landscapes. Spend the day visiting the vineyards, trying homemade jams and jellies that were made by people in New Canaan Farms. They do everything from preserves and sauces to salsa and dips. They are unique and are one of the types of recipes that will surely please everyone who has picky taste buds! They have been in business for over 20 years and are looking forward to many more.

Springs drops have a lot of different things to do, everything from antiques and collectibles to iron and stone sculptures! The Dripping Springs Hotel also has many breakfast spoons that are neatly located in the mountains. Visitors can sit on the porch, drink coffee and watch the deer graze just a few feet away.

If “getting away from it all” is what you want to do, then Dripping Springs has what you are looking for. No matter whether it’s just a romantic way or a family vacation, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy!
