What are different types of aerial photography? -2

It may seem that aerial photography is very easy to identify when taking a photo from the air. This is somewhat true; however, there are several categories of it that are very cruel to you. In addition, there is a growing variety of photographic methods that are not obvious.

Main branches

oblique - Oblique aerial photographs are taken from aircraft of any type, regardless of whether it is a fixed winged aircraft, a balloon or a helicopter. The subject is viewed at an angle, and therefore the images are perceived by the human eye as having definition and depth. This industry is often used to promote work, reports on construction, archeology, creating unusual photos for display, selling residential or commercial real estate or in legal disputes.

vertical “This is sometimes called overhead.” Vertical aerial photographs are taken directly from the top down, looking down vertically. Therefore, they create a flat image similar to the map. These photographs are commonly used for land use, cartographic projects, flood risk assessment, farm assessment and research.

Keep in mind that both of these methods were developed mainly for military purposes.

Today, many alternative photography techniques see themselves as aerial photography, since in fact they can be called “enhanced photography”. These methods use various equipment to lift the camera above the ground to raise the position. Some of the methods used to lift the camera will include telescopic supports or masts and a portable raised platform on which the photographer will stand.

Using aerial photography

forestry - Photos taken using color film and filters will help determine the density and varieties of trees in remote forest areas.

Archaeological research - They give information about objects that do not have access to a ground observer.

geology - Geologists can explore vast land parcels from the air and use the information obtained to analyze the surface of the earth. Different locations for the right-hand route and ground excavation can be accurately determined for various engineering infrastructure projects.

Meteorologists - High altitudes, cameras mounted on vehicles powered by rockets, can create meteorological data.

military - It was the largest user of aerial photographs. The need for military intelligence and target data is responsible for the achievements in the strategies of this form of photography.

The main purpose of this form of photography is to obtain images of the maximum size, allowed by the combination of film and lens, not destroyed by the movement of the vehicle.
