Four classic kitchen arrangements - U-shaped, galley, L-shaped and island. The U-shape has a working surface on three sides, the galley has a counter along one or both long sides of the rectangle. The configuration of the island is a variation on the L-shaped with a block of the working surface with an advantage for storage.

To make the kitchen safer and more efficient for work, there are certain recommendations. Another thing is not to open the cabinet doors on the way where people walk to get to the table or the door. Some people disagree on whether to keep stoves, cutters and glass near the dishwasher or table where it is used. The last layout makes it easier and faster to lay the table, but the first one makes emptying the dishwasher less tedious. This is definitely a matter of personal preference.

Planning a kitchen from scratch means drawing it on paper first. If you have time, make cut-out shapes representing devices such as a refrigerator, as well as furniture. Feel free to move the notches around the reduced space until you are satisfied.

Mass kitchen units are basically drawers with regular sizes, which allows fixing doors and work surfaces. The base unit is typically 36 inches tall with a depth of 24 inches. Widths tend to be more diverse. There are also corner units, and in some ranges there are special pieces, such as tray shops, wine racks, etc. They are built for people of average height.

Standard blocks can be raised on a special base, so there is no need to lean towards those who are above average. Place the drawers in the base for extra storage space. Your work surface can also be made deeper than usual, from back to front / This is a clever trick to give more counter space if there is only limited space. Create your own kitchen, made by a specialized company, or a local carpenter, or “Do it yourself”. Higher, deeper units provide plenty of storage space that benefits the meter.
