On your way, what would you capture in an emergency? -2

I was in an interesting conversation with one of my grandchildren, this morning my wife read us an article about the disaster. In particular, the threat of a nuclear bomb from North Korea, she stated in the article that we should have at least a 14-day emergency reserve. I asked my grandson what he thought of all this, and if he had ever thought of situations where he would have to provide for himself. The scenario that I asked him is a very real situation for people living in an earthquake country. (I have to say that I’m not at all worried about a nuclear attack from North Korea, all I’ll say about this is all damn it and hype.) However, Delta living 50 miles from San Francisco in the Great California is very real . I asked him if he was in the city, and what a major earthquake stuck, making all the utilities useless, what would he do. He said he would leave the city immediately. Well, I think that was my answer. The second question I had was where he went, and, of course, he told our home that we were fine. Then I asked him how he would get out of town, he responded to the bus, train, car, walk, etc. I told him that there would be many people with the same idea. There are 3 exits from San Francisco, 1) Bay Bridge. 2) Golden Gate Bridge 3) Highway 101 via South San Francisco. In my opinion, all jam packed on a regular working day will not be possible during an emergency evacuation. In my opinion, the first few thousand cars will be able to get out, and then with breaks and wrecks the roads will quickly fill up. Then he told me that he was leaving, I just asked "where" Oakland? Hayward In other words, in my opinion, no one happens after the “big one”, they told us and We ended the conversation without any decisions other than a better understanding of what might happen, and great children sometimes go by train to the city for one day, therefore it was an interesting conversation (they are about 20 years old). Despite the fact that we did not have an exhaustive decision on our discussion, this raised a more pressing question: “If a major disaster happened and you were at home, what would you choose?”

I think of a wildfire, a house fire, a flood, an earthquake, or any other situation in which all our utilities are used. 4-1 / 2 years ago my neighbors' house burned to the ground in the middle of the night. Fire damage was inflicted on the house on both sides, one was destroyed by 80% and although it has never been restored as a scorched hulk. If there was a promising wind (this was not the case), and if it was dry (fortunately, it was foggy rain), my house would most likely have been completely burned. This is a disturbing sight to see the neighbors, very good neighbors, to run around in their nightly clothes with garden hoses, trying to save their homes. It was an extremely dangerous situation, one neighbor was in her nightgown and somersault 30 feet from the house completely involved, she was next to a large pine tree. I could see that the tree was bursting in a flame and, perhaps, seriously hurt her, this did not happen, but the tree was destroyed by heat. The fact is that last week I saw her spraying wood with her garden hose, I, of course, asked her what was the matter. She replied that she was allergic, and that the pine tree was full of pollen, she was allergic to this tree, and they thought about removing it. That night the tree was wet, and it probably saved her from serious injury or worse. After the fire service arrives, we are in a very rural area in the middle of nowhere, so it usually takes at least 20 minutes to answer, night clothes and nothing else. It made me think about readiness, and the question I asked myself was “If it were me, so that I could break free?” So I began to form the basis of my emergency plan, and I needed to put together a kit to ensure readiness to work at home. This event inspired me to create a website dedicated to helping people be as confident as they can be. Then I came up with the list below:

1) Get up and dress, keep a set of clothes next to the bed, shoes, pants and shirt.

2) Go to get my 95-year-old mother-in-law out of bed, appointed either to my wife or me.

3) Bring my emergency backpack containing my laptop and all the information about my website, if I lose that it could be a disaster.

4) Save my wheelchair, okay, take a ride, if you can, if this happens, my mobile devices will be lost.

5) Grab my ukulele, guitars and banjo

6) Tower computer upstairs, only tower

7) Dump it all on the dam then

8) Get my big mobility scooter, I keep it on the back porch by the door.

9) Oh, crazy dog, good grief that will be a problem

10) All car keys!

This is not even a complete list! Putting it on writing, I hit me in the face, just like in the western film “B”, “what the hell do I think?” If I took it all, really, if I could put everything in short timing, that would be an important task. According to my estimates, after watching videos that were made by various fire departments, I came to the conclusion that I have one minute to evacuate. I came up with one minute after seeing the Christmas tree made by the fire service. The small building was built with a replica of the living room with a Christmas tree, a sofa, a chair and a small table. The light chain was faulty, after the lamps were turned on, it immediately began to smoke and the wiring broke out. The whole room was covered in less than one minute, in one minute, to evacuate my house, and this is a completely new perspective in my view that I had time to get together and run away. If I tried to take it all, I would need a truck and a trailer, it would need to be set up always and ready for loading. One minute, I changed my list to a significant amount, which it is now:

1) Get a grandma

2) Put the dog on a leash

3) Grab my emergency preparedness kit (it contains my laptop)

Pull out! If I can ride in a wheelchair, if there were not millions made only this year, and I have insurance. Same with my Ukulele, banjo and guitars, there were a lot of them this year. Nothing is more important than grandmother, wife, dog and me. Even now, leaving my laptop, will not be a serious problem, since I put all my files in the “cloud”, Google+, I can get it from any computer anywhere, as long as I have my passwords. Everything else is changing, all my only priority is grandmother, wife, dog, and then me, the door, someone will call the fire department, if I don’t, just go out in one minute. In conclusion, I would like to inspire some people to start making plans for family disasters, and also to assemble or buy a pre-assembled emergency preparedness kit at home. The 72-hour kit is recommended by FEMA, a 14-day kit is a much better set for preparation. Because of my opinion related to this fact, my neighbors are not now and will never be ready for such a catastrophe. My personal approach to being ready is to understand that we have a lot for ourselves and more to help other people when the need arises, which I believe will present itself. I can never refuse anyone to drink water or something warm, just because they are not prepared, does not mean that they are something other than "man." An event can easily happen at any time of the day or night, doesn't it seem that the most unpleasant grams come during the worst storm of the year in the middle of the night?
