1) the beach
2) on an unsealed road
3) on a sealed road.
Each of them offers a different experience in the park.
The most popular way to explore the park is to drive along the beach from Noosa, using 4WD car , Take a ferry across the Noosa River to Tewantin before Noosa North Shore You go to the beach on one of the three clippings. The North Shore is known for its large fishing and diversity of migratory birds that visit each year. When you drive north along the beach, you first arrive at the village of Teewah. You can stroll inland to the Teewah point on the Kutarababa lake. When you move further north, you will reach high sand dunes and a point where you can access the sand of Cooloola blowing along the footpath. The beach area for camping begins north of the sand stroke. Continuing along the beach, Kings Bore Rd goes to the beach (without an entrance), and a small freshwater stream marks the end of the beach recreation area. Fresh water route - the only way in and around the country Rainbow beach. Before you take this track, you can continue along the beach until Double island point This is a very popular area for divers, fishermen and surfers. Go back and take the freshwater inland path past the inland campsites and Lake Pune. You will fall into Rainbow beach Rd on which you turn right and a short drive from Rainbow Beach.
Driving conditions vary depending on the weather and tides. It is important that you go to the beach for a maximum of 2 and a half hours on both sides of the low tide. On the beach, the usual Australian traffic rules apply. Keep to the left, and the speed limit is 80 km. It is strongly recommended to reduce the tire pressure when driving on the sand. The second route from Nuza to Raduga Beach is a walk along Hullow along the western edge of the park. It is available 4WD and regular vehicles if there was not too much rain. Of Noosa take Noosa-Cooroy Rd to Cooroy. Turn right and go towards Pomona and then towards Kin-Kin. Continue along Kin Kin-Gympie Rd for about 8 km, then turn right onto the Cooloola path. Your drive continues north to Rainbow Beach Rd where you turn right and you have a few minutes drive to Rainbow beach The Cooloola Way is a bit rough for regular cars, but great for 4WD. It is recommended to stay below 80 km / h. Some sections of Cooloola are very quiet and you should drive at a speed appropriate to the roads and weather conditions.
The third and fastest was access to Rainbow Beach from Noosa on a closed road. This is the main access road and is often a return route for holidaymakers. Take the Noosa-Cooroy Rd to Cooroy and then to the Bruce Highway in Gympie. At the southern edge of Gympie, turn right, following signs for Rainbow Beach. This will lead you through the eastern part of Gympie to Rainbow Beach Rd. Turn right on Rainbow Beach Rd and you have a 35 minute drive on a good sealed road to Rainbow beach You will drive along the northern boundary of Kulula National Park and see a mixture of eucalyptus and beaches and low wastelands. Before reaching Rainbow Beach you can disconnect on the fresh water route and drive to Lake Pune. This stretch of road is suitable for ordinary cars, but no further. Lake Pune is a rarely visited lake. Allow most of the hour to walk from the parking lot to the lake, which is good for swimming.
Rainbow beach It is a quiet resort village offering a variety of accommodation and food options. This is the southern gateway to Inskip Point and the beautiful island of Fraser. The famous colored sands can be viewed on the Rainbow Beach. Currently, the sand is not enough to drive along the beach from Rainbow Beach to the colored sands. If you need a close-up, you need to go by boat. However, there is another small sand blow to the hills near Rainbow Beach, which is easily accessible.
To explore the Cooloola National Park between Noosa and Rainbow Beach, you can take your own 4WD or you can hire 4x4 from the 4WD rental business.
