 Kitchen Design -2

If I like you, rarely a guy, most likely you never thought about the kitchen in your house. This is first and foremost the kingdom of the wife, so you leave all decisions related to this, with her and with her alone. I never dared to think so hard until I was just recently, and was looking for a new place to live. Oddly enough, the size and location of the kitchen became one of my most important factors in deciding where to live.

In fact, I had a rather large kitchen, spacious space in the closet, but with a few design flaws, sometimes the open dishwasher blocked the cupboard and the stove from opening, but overall I was very pleased. When I started looking for a house, again good food was on my list of priorities.

So what should you look for in the kitchen? First of all, you need to look at the “work triangle” and determine where each corner will go. The work triangle consists of 3 zones, a refrigerator where food is stored, sinks where everything is washed, and ovens / stoves where food is prepared. You need easy access from anywhere to the other two, without obstruction. If there is something like this, or if you need to repeat the steps, then your design layout will probably be less than sufficient.

You also want a lot of oncoming space. Cooking requires several different work surfaces, and ideally you want one between each of the points in the work triangle. Between the refrigerator and the sink, where food can be held before washing. Between the sink and the stove where food can be dried before cooking. The more space you have to counter, the better. You can also use the tabletop as extra table space if you have a large number of guests.

Island. In large kitchens, an island can effectively minimize the number of trips between jobs, and in some cases one point of the workplace (for example, a sink) can be located on the island. Some kitchens use temporary islands equipped with wheels or wheels that can move as needed. The island can also be used for storage or as an additional working surface. The optimal function would be the ability to move an island out of the way, as the needs require.

Kitchens come in different shapes. U-shaped kitchens offer three walls that really help ease the whole concept of the “working triangle”. Unfortunately, such kitchens can also become very crowded if more than two people are involved.

L-shaped kitchen is a popular layout that allows you to save space significantly, since two workstations will be located along a common wall. It also allows the kitchen to open in another room, such as the living room or dining room.

The final design is Galeriya, with walls parallel to each other ... this provides sufficient working space with fewer trips between stations. Unfortunately, like the U form, this is not particularly conducive to a lot of people.

In any case, you want to make sure that you have enough counter and storage space. Never improve storage capacity. And, based on experience, make sure that the various blocks do not interfere with each other.

Regardless of what you choose, just remember to save the work triangle and build your kitchen accordingly. The idea is to have a space that is functional and attractive. You will spend a lot of time there, so make this a place that you can call home.
