Ask the engineer - “Gutter covers against cleaning gutters”? -2

You see ads to protect gutters, where you say that you no longer have to clean the gutters, but think twice before buying. Actually do not think; do research. The cost of protecting the gutter can range from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars.

Since most gutter covers are known with low productivity, it may be more advisable to conclude a contract for wastewater cleaning several times a year in the amount of $ 75 to $ 100. And if you really find a reliable insurance company that will serve you, this is probably the best way. However, this can be a daunting task; and have someone else or you clean your gutters, perhaps not. What for? Answer: There are several reasons:

1. Not all gutter cleaners do well. Rosemary paid $ 75 for cleaning her gutters, and after three days they were overwhelmed. Did the contractor do a bad job or did enough drops to score down? Answer: Impossible to say.

2. Comrade Joe, hired to clean his gutters, had no insurance. A big problem! Unfortunately, there was an accident with the stairs, and the guy sued Joe; and Joe went through a nightmare to fellow doctors and Joe's own insurance company.

3. Claire had a company that cleaned its gutters at a declared price of $ 75, but eventually paid $ 350. The company replaced the end caps, tube drops, elbows and handed her an arm and a leg for each additional service.

4. Jim always cleaned his gutters until his stairs slipped and he fell into his living room window and was in the hospital with a broken pelvis.

Yes, to avoid these problems, it seems like a sensible thing is to install a gutter protector with a promise to solve clogged gutter problems. But the buyer will be the dishes. If you choose the wrong product, it can also be nightmarish with flooded basements, mold, mildew, soil erosion and, even worse, be completely dependent on the manufacturing company, since you can no longer use your own gutters to clean them.

So let's do some research. Basically there are six different types of gutter protection devices:

1. Shielding devices that are not actually recognized as drainage protection devices. Made from wire, metal or plastic, they work simply with gravity and require routine maintenance of the stairs.

2. Filters, membranes and brushes installed in or on existing grooves. Basically, they are no more effective than screens, and require routine maintenance of stairs.

3. Finish type with a rounded front nose and a solid flat top. Their advertising graphics make you believe that garbage is thrown onto the ground, and instead in debris sticking to the surface, it sticks to the surface to clog the gutters. Here you must depend on the installation of the company for service. See the “Resource” section for photos.

4. A flat solid top with a rounded front nose and a gutter type with a gutter. Since the main type of finals does not work, the next step was to add a trough. But a college graduate is not required to see that debris that fall into the trough (basic screening system), either clog up the trough or break, pass into the groove and clog it. See the “Resource” section for photos.

5. Gutters or installations for dispersing rain. They require the removal of your gutters and the installation of either a gutter with a hinge that flips over or ribs (mounted horizontally to the front panel panel) to disperse water. They both look viable until you see their work. The rain scattering unit does not work with a slow fall of precipitation, and a precipitate lies above it that blocks its operation. To clean the gutter, a layer of rain is required when the groove is filled with rotten debris. It is known that flip-clean gutters are deformed, making them useless.

6. Rounded front nose with vertical trellis collectors and a flat, solid top. While with a fusible type of gutter lid that will pass through full-sized leaves, louvers distinguish the size of the wreckage, which allows the lid to gutter in the gutter. This protective casing is the only round nose that limits the amount of debris or the size of debris that can pass through the gutter.

This one system has proven that gutters can remain flowing freely in heavy debris for twenty years; and this is no small feat. The only drawback is that in conditions of heavy debris, debris can accumulate on the blinds and block them, which means that any maintenance is required.

While most other products require someone to climb the ladder and clean the gutter or cover, it can be easily done from the ground with a telescopic pole and brush. Since it is easy to see where cleaning is required, do not guess where to do the cleaning. No rain skins are required (as with a gutter) to perform this simple task, since it can really be done in a suit and tie.

After all, telling someone who should clean their gutters several times during the fall that no maintenance is required, it’s like believing in Santa Claus.
