New York Hardcore Godfather Agnostic Front -2

For many people, when they think about hardcore, the main place they think is New York. And with good reason, the NYHC scene is probably one of the most famous on earth heavy music, right where the Bay Area thrash scene was. In New York, many hardcore bands that have become legends in the area have appeared, and now, unfortunately, the non-existent club CBGBs held more hardcore shows than the Red Light region in Amsterdam. One of the many implicated simple fangs from the scene in New York is the band that was around | for a longer time than most, and may have been doing CBGB more than anyone, Agnostic Front.

The agnostic front was formed by guitarist Winnie Stigma, previously “Eliminators” in 1980, and he had several performers before choosing Roger Miret, the most former bassist of The Psychos. Soon, the band recorded bass player Adam Mochi and drummer Ray Barbieri (aka Raybeez) on drums and launched their debut EP "United Blood" in 1983. The EP was effectively associated with the fans, and the band recorded their first full length, Victim In Pain "quickly after, releasing it in 1984. The album pushed them to the top of the New York hardcore scene and earned them a tour with the Scottish hardcore act of The Exploited.

Agnostic Front then struggled for a short time with changes in composition. Although Miret and Stigma remained motionless, the revolving door of bassists and drummers constantly stopped the growth of the group. Finally, they were able to record a second album in the form of Cause For Alarm, which was launched in 1986 and included contributions from the character Carnivore Peter Steele (later Negative Type O Fame), besides the fact that he played in a cross-over trash which was popular with bands like Suicidal Tendencies and Stormtroopers Of Death. Other modems followed, but that didn’t stop the band from releasing yet another album next year called Liberty And Justice For .... While this album still contained some guitar solos touched by metal, the overall sound rejected most of the trash from “Reason for Alarm” and seemed more like a beaten punk rock. For the first time in Europe shortly thereafter, although Miret was unable to join them, as he was “One Voice”, which was released in 1992, and was shown to guest members of Sick Of All All and Madball. Shortly after the release of the album, Agnostic Front de to call him on the day and perform a show at CBGB, which is said to have been launched as a live album called “Last Warning”.

Fortunately for hardcore fans, the band hasn’t been a long time since Miret and Stigma decided to move the Agnostic Front back in 1996. Soon the band signed a contract with Epitaph Records and released their album “Comeback”, “Gotta Give Something” in 1998. The album filled an additional street punk / Oi! Sound and was co-produced by frontman of Stormtroopers Of Death Billie Milano, along with backing Vocals from Francis Murphy Jimmy Gestapo and Rancid members Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederikson. They soon followed this release of the 1999 album Riot, Riot, Upstart, with which they earned the MTV award for the title track music video. since then sold effectively and have been positive in It was received by both critics and fans, and although they launched another album in 2001 called “Dead Yuppies,” the band sees it as a product of bassist Jimmy Colletti and, as such, does not often perform songs from the album live. the band’s album will not be launched until 2005, and there will be a dramatic change. “The Other Voice” was considered a continuation of “One Voice,” but contained a more metallic hardcore sound, like bands like Hatebreed and Earth Crisis, which many did not expect fans that led to some criticism lboma. The band continued to use these components on its most updated album, “Warriors” of 2007, in which a small hit “For My Family” was shown. The band is currently traveling to Europe, although it is expected to record and release a new studio album, which can probably be launched by the end of the year, just in time to celebrate thirty years of hard work and the dominant place in the hardcore world.
