How has food fashion changed?
Study. In India, there were spices, and in China there was tea, and those who went to distant places began to establish trade. Most of the food we eat today, however, actually originated in North and South America. The pilgrims may have bought a turkey for the first Thanksgiving, but they were Native Americans who appeared with pumpkins, corn, beans and sunflowers. Although potatoes may have saved the Irish from starvation, it was the Native Americans who first grew them.
Cooling. Although it was invented in 1805, refrigerators did not actually become mandatory for use until World War II, when the average household could afford it.
All the sudden food could be transported from one region or country to another. Roasted lamb from New Zealand has become a delicacy in England. It was fashionable to serve exotic imported food to impress the guests.
Fast food Then the trash hit the scene a great time. The sources of the hamburger were shipped through a meat grinder, many of whom claimed to have invented it. And it became fashionable, so people flocked in that direction, and burger joints sprang up everywhere.
People switched from eating organic food to compliment what Jamie Oliver put up like Macdonald's pink goo, which processed unsuitable for human consumption, into hamburgers. Yum
Then there is a hot dog. These are mostly scrubbers of the floor covering, filled with a condom, with a sufficient amount of preservatives, so they are always forever.
Local, organic and in season
How local? Look at farmers markets. But just because oranges do not grow in Fargo, does that mean people should stop eating them? Supermarkets have their own possibilities.
Organic is gaining momentum in certain circles. In 2002, the United State Department of Agriculture was involved. Translated, this means that the bureaucracy, paperwork, and insurance permits do not contain pesticides or antibiotics in the product. The upside is that it saves chicken men from developing male boobs.
In seasonal prints fruits and vegetables are fresh. Then, again, they can sit in the supermarket for two weeks and spray H2O three times a day.
Fortunately, in a democratic society, people can decide what they want to eat. Local, organic or pink mucus - to the consumer.
Last question
What will be the next food fashion? All ready made are popular in Southeast Asia, one suggestion about trends, which is local, organic and in season - these are grasshoppers, caterpillars, beetles, wasps - because they are pure protein. And it may well be the next delicacy.
