If you only had a second or third child, it is reasonable if you used an old mattress used by your first babies before. Of course, it is somewhere in the attic waiting to be reused.
While it is still in excellent condition, and there are no lumps or sagging in the crib mattress, you can still use it. Inspect the mattress for irreparable damage. Remember that your child is in dire need of sleeping comfort, so the mattress should be as comfortable as possible.
You can now perform the following cleaning steps:
Step 1: Get your mattress and place it on a clean platform, preferably in front of your garage, where it will not be a problem if you worry a little. Use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of dust mites and visible particles of dirt on the mattress. It is better to use a vacuum cleaner, as it eliminates most of the dirt particles.
Step 2: Now you can start cleaning the mattress, disinfect it and remove the terrible smell. First make a citrus spray. Take one lemon (or any citrus you prefer) and pour about one cup of its juice. Mix it with one cup of water and place it in a basin or spray bottle for ease of use.
Step 3: If you used a spray bottle, you only need to spray all sides of the mattress. Make sure you cover all areas. If you used the pelvis, get a clean towel and dip the towel in the solution. Remove excess moisture and press on the towel on the surface of the mattress. Do this on all sides of the mattress so that some of the solution can penetrate the mattress.
Step 4: Let the solution stay there for 30 minutes to an hour. Then fill the spray bottle or basin with clean water. Spray clean water or iron the surface of the mattress with a wet towel. It is necessary to slightly remove some of the citrus smell.
Step 5: After this you can allow the mattress to dry in the sun. This should also eliminate any lingering musty bed odor. If it is already dry, give it another round of vacuum.
Step 6: Now you can put the crib mattress back in your crib. Put on a cute mattress cover and put pillows, blankets and pillows.
