Katy Perry is as sizzling as a hot summer night (musically, inspiring, visually and conceptually). She was from the Queen of the Promenade to Vamp-Goth to the sexual “nerd”. Her advertising images for her album Teenage Dream really reflected her style perfectly. The California Gurls pop star wore a Betty Page style purple wig, a multi-colored rubber bikini (an Avec candy decoration), and her legs were wrapped in a pair of short designer boots. So what does this say about the design of the bedroom in the style of Katy Perry? Well, it's all about color, color and color, especially “feminine” colors, such as pinkish-pink gum, honeysuckle, fuchsia, lavender and cream (just like whipped cream that covers Katy Perry's delicious sunbath clip!) .
One thing Katy can't get enough of is animal prints, whether it's a leopard print, a cheetah print, or a zebra (just to name a few). In the spring, Katie ventured to New York in a yellow gel-print D & G dress with black lace trimming (which is no longer for sale!). She also claimed that her favorite gift she had ever received was a leopard coat. But although leopard and zebra prints can be fashionable, overprinting on prints can very quickly make your room from elegant to cheap. You are designing a room with Katy Perry, not a bedroom for one of the actors who made it to the InStyle charts, and therefore keep the sticky "Shore." Also, why not use something that is a bit more trend? Ikat models are an interesting and colorful print that can add an unexpected touch to your home decor. You can find these projects almost anywhere: chairs, bedspreads, blankets, pillows, or curtains. They add an exotic feeling and an element of pleasure to any space, and when someone asks where you got this hot cheetah, you can say that this is an ikat pattern, not a cheetah, "honey." They will surely spark a conversation or two in your new Katy Perry bedroom! However, you can add animal prints through a sexy LUX faux-fur throw for the end of your bed and leopard silk ribbon to trim your lampshades.
When you create a Katy themed bedroom, don't forget about pretty flowers and splashes of color, rather than traditional flower prints, think of invincible flowers and bold and sad prints. Remember that the overall meaning you want to achieve in your inspired cosmos Katy Perry is a warm and vicious feeling of whim. One thing that comes to mind is the cover of the single Perry Under Teenage Dream, in which it represents the teenage dream of every boy whipped into a pink fluffy pink cloud. For colors or colors of wallpaper, I would suggest warm shades of lilac, corals and, of course, bubble gum pink. These colors are sexy, feminine and flirtatious - all the words that Katie describes very well. Try mixing them all in your space, making one wall in each color and 4th wall in a cream, then take a thick short strip of cream (about 3 feet thick) and run it along the 3 colored walls horizontally 1/3 below the ceiling to unite the room and ground the bubble palette.
I was also inspired by the outfit that Kathy was in the July 2010 issue of Billboard magazine. On the cover, Katie is covered in flowers from head to toe. So, why not follow Katie’s example by including Mother Nature gifts in her design scheme? For example, a vase full of pink peonies will make your bedroom more warm and attractive, especially because cold weather is not far off, and cheerful / flirty Katie would approve the addition of pompons in bright colors of yellow, light blue and pink, Think Easter basket ... but more chic! You can create a composition from Pom-Poms by combining them enmasse into a bold sculptural vase. For wall art, find your favorite photo, poster or print by Katie, cut it into a dozen pieces of random size and leave each piece separately, and then group them together on the wall to create the look of modern art.
Now let's talk about adding more theatricality and drama to your space by creating a canopy. They will also add the necessary verticality to the space, and I think that every little girl (and many boys) has a four-poster bed (although some of them may not recognize this, perhaps this is the dream of many “adults”). If Katy Perry is one thing, it’s definitely a princess (after all, she still married an Englishman!). To complete your bedroom, inspired by Katy Perry, add a canopy over your bed with 10 yards of fabric - find something silky and shimmering to really finish the look. I prefer solid color in your palette, and then add some piercing floral and ear cushions to print animals. The canopy is very easy to reach: just put a good stable hook on the ceiling in the center of the bed, and then let the halves of the fabric rise from the center down. If you are looking on the Internet, there are even more detailed instructions for creating your own canopy effects, just enter it into your browser! While you're on it, add a plush headboard that really finishes the princess feeling. I prefer shoes that are too high (5 to 6 feet tall), and make sure your bedding is total and very tangible with various forms of texture, both visually and physically. Teen "California Gurles" can also be a princess, right?
So the next time someone asks you where you are spending “last Friday evening,” I hope you say that it was in your new bedroom, inspired by Katy Perry!
