There is a very good chance that you damaged the bumper in your car at some point in your car career. Your bumpers are the most open parts of your car. They are most likely to be damaged. And ... they are designed for quick and easy repairs.
There is also a very good chance that something much worse has happened to you than damage to your bumpers: you almost certainly overpaid twice as much as you repaired these bumpers.
Body shops have two solutions for repairing a bumper: repaint the entire bumper (if the paint is damaged, but it is not deformed) or replace it (if the bumper has been cut, dented or deformed). There is one option that they almost never consider: to repair and repaint only the area that was damaged.
When I owned a body shop, I was shocked at how many healthy bumpers with minor damage (a bumper rash on the corners, a dent without damage to the paint, scratches on the face) were removed and thrown away by the bodies. Body shops were more than happy to throw in bumpers that were 90% new because they could raise the cost of a new bumper for a customer. And they were just as happy to paint the entire bumper for small scratches and scratches covering only 10-20% of its surface, because the paints, the primer, the work force were also noted. In general, the tactics of body shops are to make work as attainable as possible, because large jobs bring more profit, and this is not the client who pays ... this is an insurance company (don't fall for it - you pay, and then some time when they slowly raise your bids). The average constriction of the bumper is about 450 dollars. Replacement is usually 800 USD.
There is a sub-industry used by car dealers, but the public is generally not aware of the spot repair business. Spot repair technicians specialize in bumper repair. They can change, replenish, repaint and re-clean almost any bumper that did not damage the tabs that attach it to the car (by the way, this is 80% of the bumper damage). Contrary to what chicks tell you, bumpers can be fixed, and only the area that has been damaged can be painted. This requires some skill. The painter must know how to properly damage the damaged area, paint it in and apply a transparent coating so that the repair is not detected.
What is the average charge per seam, the most common of all bumper repairs? About 250 dollars. And here is a BIG bonus: most of the spot technology for repairing mobile phones. This means that they come to your home or office. The corner of the bumper can be sanded, grounded, painted and cured for 90 to 120 minutes. Ask your local car dealers for your “bumper repair guy.” Many in your area do work that you simply did not know, indicated prices and convenience, which you would be foolish to ignore.
