
The province of the Western Cape in South Africa can be divided into six regions.
Central & Klein Karoo:
Klein Karoo is located between the Outeniqua, Langeberg and Swartberg mountain ranges, a region of contrasting landscapes, magnificent sunsets and Oudtshoorn ostrich birds. The Central Karoo dryer and more extensive, is the country's main region of sheep farming, reconstructed in the world for its fossils, and its capital, Beaufort West, was home to the heart surgeon Dr. Christian Barnard. West Coast:
The west coast is very popular among photographers, artists, adventurers and observers of its pristine beaches, magnificent mountain ranges, spectacular spring wildflowers, fabulous art and areas that attract a large number of birds. Many small picturesque villages are dotted with a coastline, but don't miss Darling for flowers, Langebaan, Saldanha Bay, Citrusdal, Clanvilliam and its environs, Vanrhinsdorp for rock art and Elland Bay for surfing.
Peninsula Cap:
The Cape Peninsula stretches from the center of Cape Town to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Along this coast you will find the famous beaches of the Western Cape, for example, the camps of Bay and Clifton and the nudist beach of Sandy Bay. Visit the charming fishing villages of Hout Bay with its famous mariner Mariner and Simon with its beach and cobblestones. Activities include swimming, diving, fishing, hiking, visiting museums, ports, artistic routes, shopping and enjoying superb seafood. Peak Drive Peak Drive, carved into hard rock, is one of the most impressive mountain drives in the world, starting with Hout Bay and ending at Nordhoek, allowing you to enjoy panoramic views in several glasses.
The Winelands:
Here you will find the best of the best, award-winning wines, the region has vineyards and orchards in beautiful green valleys surrounded by mountain ranges and dotted with historic cities and villages. Cities that are a must-see include Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, world famous for their white, red, berries, ports and brands. Wine routes and cognac routes can be explored, including tastings along the way.
Valley of the Bride:
It is the largest fruit and wine-making valley of the Western Cape and is the leading breeding country for race horses. The region extends from Hood in the west, McGregor in the south, Montagu in the east to Tankwa-Karu National Park in the north. This is an area with magnetic views, panoramic landscapes and high cliffs, crystal clear streams, an abundance of trees and local flora, such as fenbos and proteas.
Garden route:
The Garden Route with its picturesque scenic beauty runs parallel to the coast of the cape with lakes, mountains, high local forests, amber rivers, golden beaches and cities along the way. Tourists follow the Meand trails, the forest invites long, leisurely hikes, and the lakes and rivers lend themselves to swimming, boating and fishing. See cities along the way, including the Garden Route, George, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna gateway with their famous heads and oysters and Plettenberg Bay. This area is phenomenal for adventure seekers and nature lovers.
Overberg:
Hermanus offers the best view of whales from the ground in the world with a cliff extending from one side of the city to the other, and a whale watching hotline. Walker Bay is the nursery for the large southern right whale and do not miss the Bientang Cave, where you can enjoy excellent seafood inside the cave and explore the whales. Do not miss the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden with more than 5 hectares of cultivated finbos orchard and 195 hectares of natural hazelnuts; Arniston is a delightful fishing village, the southernmost tip of Africa - Cape Agulhas Lighthouse Lighthouse, Caledon for its Wild Flower Show in September and hot mineral springs and the charming colonial town of Swellends.
