When I started doing SEO a few years ago, it required very little effort to get the site that ranked first on the search lists. All you had to do was to include the key phrase in the tags on the page on the web page. All these elements on the page are still mandatory and relevant, which is the reason that the search engine optimization on the page has changed a lot; you still have to tell the main search engines what your page is focused on.
However, this is extra-page SEO (backlinks pointing to your website or blog), which explain to search engines not something related to your website (optimization on the page will do this), but only how central your website is in the condition that it is, plus how much more valuable it is than other competing websites.
So, here's what you need to get a win on the Search Engine Optimization page.
- You should have a lot of good, related content with at least 700 words on every web page.
- Use your key phrase, as well as its variants once or twice in the content of the page.
- Include the key phrase in
tag, as well as in the place of the meta-keywords and in the location of the description of the web page title. (But do not forget that the description is usually used by search engines in the lists of results, so make it attractive for the user to decide to check your site in the lists of results and look at your page, and not at another site). - Also put the key phrase inside
,
and
tag headers.
- If you have pictures on the page or in the film, put your key phrase or variations of it, inside
meta tags related to images. - Make sure that any words or phrases within the meta-area of the keywords are also in the observed written content of the web page.
- Make sure your website has the necessary and useful pages, such as Privacy Policy, About Us page, Help page, Terms of Service page, page 404 and, if necessary, disclaimers. Make sure that there are links to these pages from the home page and to all additional web pages so that each page can be accessed from any other page in just one click.
- Increase your stay and minimize bounce rate: keep your visitors on your website as long as possible by attracting people using useful content, such as a clip or questionnaire. Indented lists at the same time: Google likes lists of lists. If visitors close you in a couple of seconds, search engines like Google will know about it and determine that the site is not what users want to see, and your SERPS search rankings will fall as a direct consequence. You can see your bounce rate through Google Analytics data (you are using Google Analytics, aren't you?).
- Reduce the loading time of your site. The most effective strategy to prevent long load times is to reduce the size (size values in KB, not pixels). Free tools such as http://www.reduceimages.com/ and http://www.imageoptimizer.net/Pages/Home.aspx are available for this. This is also called file compression.
- Include the robots.txt file and upload it to your server.
- Include a Sitemap for XML and upload it to your server.
- Include a.htaccess file with a code for it to work with canonical URLs.
Follow all of these basic rules, and in 2017 you will be tuned to best practices in search engine optimization.
