Have you ever sprayed, cleaned, polished, polished and “cleaned” your windows - but almost without any time they attract more dirt to their surface?
Well, believe it or not, chemical window cleaning companies are smart. They know that if their product (even “without rinsing”) is simply applied to the fabric with a cloth, the chemical residue remains on the glass and acts as a magnet for dirt. This means that you have to clean the windows more often - and buy more of your product. Terrible, huh?
As a second-generation window cleaner, my clients constantly ask me what our “secret” is to keep windows looking so clean for so long.
Secret!
"Secret" is not a secret at all! Often, consumers who are serious about clean windows already have the right steps, but they cannot use the right formula.
Well, for us the "secret" consists of several things -
- TSP (trisodium phosphate)
- Scrubber and squeegee
- Natural Sea Sponge
I turn one by one and explain the advantages of each -
Sodium triphosphate (TSP)
TSP is a very common detergent that is contained in all kinds of cleaning formulas.
You can buy it at most general stores or paint shops (Fred Meyers, Wal-Mart, Miller). Artists use concentrated formulas to prepare walls and wood for painting. However, a very small amount is required when cleaning windows. About 1 tsp. 1 gallon of hot water - not too much! The less you use, the longer your windows stay clean.
Another reason why professional window cleaners use TSP is that it does not drink. When lather is created, the place of residence is likely to remain on the window, causing the windows to attract dirt faster.
Scrubber and squeegee
A good scrubber and squeegee are crucial. It is not enough just to polish the chemical and turn off the window. He will leave a residual period.
However, the squeegee removes 99.9% of chemical residues and provides a surface that is extremely difficult to adhere to the dirt. Make sure you have a squeegee that uses high-quality rubber. Shower scrapers are not the same thing!
Believe it or not, you can pick up professional-quality professional scrubbers and scrapers in stores such as Home Depot or Lowe.
Brands that use professional window cleaners such as me, such as:
- Unger
- Ettore
- Pulex
Natural Sea Sponge
Ok, I admit it. This can be a little fantasy for those who only wash your windows from time to time. But as a professional who washed thousands of windows a month - I find fault with my lips.
Because of how much more absorbing and ductile sea sponges, they absorb and retain water well. No synthetic sponge can compare. After you are burned at your window, you will be left with dirty mud and where the sponge appears. Instead of passing through dozens of towels, a simple sponge easily moves the water back into your bucket.
Technical advice
With a scraper, make sure that before each blow, wipe the squeegee with a clean, damp sponge and evenly pull the squeegee horizontally through the window. This method eliminates the strip. Use a dry, lint-free towel to wipe off any excess windows.
This may require some practice, but over time you can handle cleaning windows like a pro. Happy cleaning!
