With so many different types of ISPs, it’s hard to determine which one is best for your home or business. The three main differences, in my opinion, are availability, speed and delivery. I have gathered four basic types of Internet to help you make the right choice.
Dial-up Internet access
Dial-up Internet connects consumers to the online world through a telephone line.
The pro is that dial-up is available in most parts of the country. People can use this type of Internet in remote and rural areas. Other types of connections in these areas are not possible.
Against
I believe, because it is configured through a linear connection, consumers cannot talk on the phone and simultaneously browse the web. This is a huge problem in the modern world.
DSL (digital subscriber line) Internet
Dial-up uses a physical line, and DSL uses a wireless telephone connection. This means consumers through the wires of the telephone network.
Pros DSL provide a higher connection speed than Dial-Up. In addition, while DSL uses telephone lines, consumers can talk on the phone and surf the Web.
The disadvantages are that DSL Internet access speed is not always consistent. The connection depends on the distance from the consumer to the provider. For example, your neighbor on the street may have a better connection than you, because they are closer to the connection than you, although you both pay the same price.
Satellite Internet
You are connected online through a satellite system that is attached to the roof of your house. The signal is sent to your satellite from the Network Operations Center.
Pros, like Dial-up, satellite Internet can reach rural areas and remote enterprises. This is a way for remote homes to get broadband speeds.
Cons, if the weather is bad, you may not be able to do what you like. Things like online games and video chat will be hard to do when there is a heavy storm in your area.
Fiber Optic Internet
Fiber-optic Internet transmits data to your computer with pulses of light generated by a laser. The signal is understood by your computer as it uses an optical network terminal (ONT). ONT is a media converter that can be delivered via phone or Internet.
The advantages are that when the ONT is in your home, the Internet used by your neighbors will not affect your Internet connection. According to the government, the average Internet speed in America was 50 Mbit / s. Fiber Optic Internet can offer up to 500 Mbps. These speeds can allow you to use many devices in your home without downloading or downloading compromises.
The disadvantages are that only 10 percent of homes have this type of internet. This means that they are limited on demand and are determined by your provider.
