 Difference between a 3-star hotel and a 4-star hotel. According to an expert at Family Travel Expert -2

Have you ever wondered what the real difference is between a three-star hotel and a four-star hotel? Do you think it will be better, more luxurious, with better service? It is good that you may be surprised to find that just because you spend more money on staying at a hotel, it does not necessarily mean that you will get more for your money.

When you travel with my husband and three children, we almost always stay in 3-star hotels and sometimes in a 2.5-star hotel. Our overall experience was pleasant, mostly with pleasant memories and minimal complaints.

Recently, we decided to upgrade our regular hotel from 3 stars to a 4-star hotel to try to find out what the difference is. We booked our room through Hotwire.com for $ 65 a night (before taxes and $ 80 after taxes), which saved us a significant amount of money in the room up, but we were quickly barred from some hidden costs as soon as we arrived.

Our four-star hotel provided us with the following impressions:

  1. atmosphere “When we arrived, the hotel was certainly stunned by the marble floors, granite pillows, impressive lighting and outstanding architecture.” The receptionist girl seemed a little new, and, although she had all her lines, she remembered, she had confidence in her.
  2. additional fee “When we finished sorting from a twin room on a king bed, we were never told that this would be an additional charge of $ 48 for the price we paid in Hotwire.
  3. Additional charges “We were told that we could park our jack-car, or we could park it in the hotel’s garage, both of which were at least $ 10 (this was never mentioned in Hotwire when we initially booked a room).
  4. content - When we headed for 3 th Paul, I examined every inch of the hotel along the way. The elevator was beautiful with laminated wooden floors and mirrors. I was surprised, though, having entered our hotel room to find out that I experienced more pleasant and large rooms in 3-star hotels. The paint on the bathroom door was trimmed, and there were small areas of wear here and there.
  5. Technologies - The technology was top notch with a 51-inch or more LCD flat-screen TV, a desk that provided Internet connectivity for a PC, and a fancy modern alarm clock with an iPod app.
  6. Soundproofed rooms. When we settled, it was obvious that the walls were not as reliable as one might hope, and we could have here when they knocked, knocked and talked past our room.
  7. 24 hour reception - It was a great feature that I used when the high-tech (and very loud) alarm clock in the room next to us left at 4 am and continued to ring for an hour. I called the help desk staff who quickly took care of the problem.
  8. Pool - The pool was top notch and very friendly with a glass ceiling, so sunlight (or moonlight) could shine in the pool. The jacuzzi was also very good, although none of the jets worked, but at least the water was warm.
  9. Recreation and entertainment - There were a lot of children's toys for children that could be played, well-stocked towels for the pool and plenty of furniture for the pool. There was also a back patio with a barbecue, a hammock and other deck chairs in the back yard.
  10. Four Star Services “This 4-star hotel provided a very organized folder in which all the services were provided: from airline numbers, baggage services that send and check your flight bags, local babysitting services and much more. But when I asked for information about local child service at the customer service desk, he literally did not know about the service and was very apologetic. I waited until he finally found a phone number for a local children's company in the area and with complete uncertainty handed me a written number to try and see if it works. So much for the services of 4 stars.

When we checked out, we found that our $ 80 room from Hotwire has now become a $ 155 hotel with 3-star service. When you travel with your family, parents need to be sure that their budget will not decrease due to unforeseen expenses, and it is important to know what expenses they will have during the trip. So overall, I’ll seriously change my mind about staying in a 4-star hotel again, and will stick to 3-star hotels for a while, as they always seem predictable in pricing, comfort and service.
