6 keys for the withdrawal of "leadership" positioning in the market -2

The status of “thought leadership” is great for business and marketing. He positions you as an authority and gives you an edge when it comes to clogging up public opportunities or charging for your services.

The good news - being a “thought leader” is not just a playing field for “bumps”.

The world is a big place. It is enough for us to cut a small piece of our cake and claim our expert status without being “household names” in our industry.

Let the bike ride begin ...

Before the kids arrived, I rode my bike 63 miles from Manhattan to Nyack, NJ every Sunday at Runcible Spoon, the cafe with the highest proportion of spandex-carrying customers.

Then for 6 years I pretty much hung the bike.

When we moved to Marin County in the SF Bay area about 10 weeks ago, I returned to the saddle.

I ride on the "rest" and never seriously trained. Can you imagine my surprise when Strava showed that I was the fastest woman in 2015 to ride a rather difficult 18-mile segment around the mountain. Tamalpais?

This random "crown" made me think about how we can claim a leading position in our business ...

We do not need to be # 1 in the largest category.

We don't need to lean against the gate.

We do not need to be the fastest, the biggest and the worst to become the leader of thought.

... and it turns out that we can just learn something from my bike ride:

State your place / category

15 women registered on Strava have a rider, which is a segment in 2015. This is specific. This is not a crowded field.

It is much easier to “compete” in this category of 15 people than in the “All time” category of 1205 riders who have attended the course since the beginning of Strava’s days (I occupy 351 places among them) or in one of those more “popular” battered ways.

In business:

It's about focusing on ONE thing you want to know and working on.

But this is not about doing something and calling yourself the mayor of your own courtyard-villa.

Notice that the segment has been displayed, and there are people who ride it.

I did not go to my patio, did not draw the course of the circles and the crown. No one else has access to my yard and does not care.

Your category should be related to the outside world (also known to your community). It must be focused and meaningful.

2. Go for a long drive.

Many can score a 3-mile flat, but there are fewer who want to go steadily for 18 miles (half of which goes up to some grueling 7% of hills) at a consistent pace.

In business:

Draw a course and take a look at the leadership position that you can achieve through consistent work and constant effort.

When you find something that locks into your conviction, you can stand behind, then you can do it day after day until you leave (success at night is overrated).

The position of "Leadership" and fads (or bright shiny objects) do not mix - if you want to earn money quickly and then jump from the ship I have, each of them. But you probably won't be able to stick with this ONE thing long enough to be known.

3. Touch your strength

At 107lb with a 16lb bike, I have an advantage when it comes to climbing. Gravity doesn't have much for me.

It is better for me to make constant efforts to climb the inexorable grueling hills than the sprouts.

And guess what kind of segment? Climbing!

In business:

Know your strengths and what makes you peck. Structure your business, marketing and advertising activities around them.

When you use your superpowers and use them to your advantage, you will be more effective and efficient. You will do something in such a way that you stand out (not looking as if you are trying too hard) - the “flair” is charismatic.

4. Hug your “basic training”

For the past 6 years I have not sat on my ass where Doritos went.

I practiced yoga, went cycling indoors, ran and kept getting up. I created a “base” on which I could quickly rely.

My body did not shout "What the @ # $ * &% $ ($ # / *" when I returned to the saddle.

In business:

All your past training, experience and skills. They contribute to who you are today, and when you hold it all together to support the expression of your conviction and message, you create something unique and valuable for those you serve.

It makes you stand out and help you cut space, declare ONE thing that you want to know about and declare it with confidence.

5. Give shit, do the work, show and trust

After I decided on the route, I drove like me.

I didn’t stop before each stroke, wondering if I wouldn’t be back because the climb was steep. I did not stop at every intersection and wondered about the alternative course.

I believed that I had the opportunity to ride on these hills, putting the right right to the right pedal.

In business:

When you schedule a course and make a plan, sometimes you have to trust that you have it in order to do what you need.

You cannot stop at every call and wonder if you must change course. You can’t stop at every bright, shiny object and wonder if you have to rebuild your tactics. (Tip: having a clear message and strong conviction helps create a filter so you can choose the right strategies and tactics with recognition.)

Otherwise, you will run in a circle, go round the hooks and never get to your destination.

You just need to exercise and trust - give a shit, do the work, because if you are not fully disclosed, how can you expect your peeping to appear for you?

6. Do not stress

The opportunity to be the “fastest” among all the very strong riders in the area did not even enter my head.

I went on my usual trip and did what I wanted - I moved the body, spent time outside and enjoyed the trip.

In business:

Enjoy the ride.

There are more important things than “6-digit income,” or one other guy's height in this Facebook group. Obsession with arbitrary numbers can highlight you.

If you dig my stuff, I’m sure you’ve been in business more than quick money.

What is WHY? What do you want to get from the PROCESS of building something that will help you express who you are?

When you tie WHY in the world, when you apply your value, conviction and personality to a specific set of people, you allocate a place that you can demand (see No. 1.)

When you evaluate your success with internal measures, and not with any arbitrary criterion defined by someone else, you can stick to your pistols and be immune to the strong syndrome of the bright syndrome (see numbers 2 and number 4).

When you find your place in this larger picture and agree to the process of CREATING A VALUE, you get a disc without stress.

When you create a VALUE, instead of belching other people's things, your unique point of view will naturally lead to a unique position that will make you a thought leader for your views.

Leadership is not created artificially by patting these ABC NBC logos with your profile. This is manifested when you have a strong persuasion and dig.

When you give a shit that you are standing, the passion and excitement associated with your message will attract like-minded people to you.
