Original gates for children of the Accordion style - a danger to safety -2

Looking back and comparing our children with the children of our children, it becomes obvious that there were many devices used by children, which turned out to be very unsafe. When you consider things like lawn lawns, they often ask questions: “What were they thinking about?” However, there are many things that seemed like a good idea at that time and were used with the best of intentions. One of these devices that proved unsafe is the children's gates with an accordion style.

Children's accordion style gates have been very popular for many years. Most children raised before the eighties probably remember them. They showed two pieces of wood on both sides, which were attached to a wall or between a door. In the middle of the device, many smaller strips of wood were used that were mounted, so that these two ends could be assembled or divided. This cave is flexibility because it can be inscribed in different areas.

This gate is characterized by the shape of the diamond, which the slats form when they were distributed. At the top of the gate, a series of semicircles would create a V-shaped zigzag pattern.

These gates presented several hazards to the child and pose a serious safety hazard. A child could easily get into the gate if they stuck their heads in one of the diamonds or on top. If the gate is knocked out or even slightly shifted, the diamond may close, catch the child, and potentially pinch or cause suffocation.

By February 1985, companies in the United States ceased production of this gate. Some gates are still around that use this design, although it is therefore important to always avoid using these types of gates.

Federal regulations now require that the distance between two sections of a V-shaped gate not exceed 1.5 inches, and diamonds must be less than the head of a six-month-old child.

One of the reasons why accordion gates were popular is that one gate can be used in different areas of a house with different widths. Today, pressure valves are available that offer similar functionality.

Usually they consist of two pieces of plastic or wood. Some kind of tensioner, usually a spring, forces the two parts to press against the edges of the door or wall. Unlike the earlier version, they usually have a solid edge on top. While the bolt pressure is much safer than the diamond-shaped baguette gates, they are quite easy to snatch. Even the most well-designed pressure valves will flow freely, and an adventure kid can knock him down.

You should never rarely just at the gate protect your child from dangers such as stairs, but the pressure gate requires more attention because they can be easily knocked down. It is usually recommended to install hardware valves. They come with mounting brackets that are physically mounted on the wall. The gates can then be tied to brackets where they will be held in place. Most of them will be open to the wing in order to provide temporary access or tear down, leaving brackets in place.
