Many people scoff at the use of hiking posts. Perhaps they are equal to old age and should be used only by older people while on the trail.
What a myth. Hiking trips should be at the top of your list when you go hiking in the desert. Here are three reasons why ...
- Security. It does not matter if you use the poles, you will be much safer during your hike. Hiking along the forest trail does not look like a paved pavement. The trail is probably full of obstacles that can easily make a person travel and fall. This is especially true when hiking in the area of steep hills and ravines with streams, which periodically intersect. Along the many hiking trails on the west coast and in the mountains of the Appetite East to the east, it is quite obvious that you will need to cross or through high-speed streams. The rocks are mostly slippery, and you can quickly fall. Perhaps the stream may be blocked by the fall of a large tree. They can be so slippery that the centipede could not slip and fall. In these situations, your walking poles will increase stability and help maintain balance.
- In emergency medical care. In doing so, you can land over a root or rock or enter an invisible hole, and many of the ankles or even the legs, arms, or clavicle were broken. My wife and I sang on a fairly flat, well-groomed trail on Vancouver Island after the rain. Near the turning point we had to cross an innocent boulder about three feet high. As a rule, we always held hands during our hikes, but she let my hand go to get the best balance when setting up a boulder. Her goal was to easily jump off the other side. Unfortunately, she slipped on a wet surface and collapsed to break her fall. After a moment, her wrist began to swell, and, after going two miles back to the car, we headed to the hospital, where X-rays showed that the wrist was broken. Walking sticks may have saved many weeks of pain and discomfort. A friend sang in a remote area, far from his car. He fell to the root, and although he had hikes. He had a broken lower leg. His companion was able to break his walking sticks into pieces and use scraps of material from a shirt, created a tire, tied his leg, and he managed with great pain and support, returning to the car.
- Attack of animals. A few years ago, wild pumas chased a tourist in Montana. The animal must be injured and unable to catch food. He followed the tourist, pursuing him. Fortunately, the tourist had hikes and decided to attack the puma first. He made for the animal waving poles from side to side. Fortunately, the animal received a message, retreated and left the area.
For your own good, get a pair of nice solid poles and use them. They can save your life someday.
