1. Use the correct airbrush - It's simple. If you are all serious about wanting an airbrush t shirt, you need to get an IWATA Eclipse HP-BCS airbrush. This is an airbrush for the lower supply, that is, the Airbrush paint bottle is connected directly to the bottom of the airbrush and sucked and pushed out of the nozzle by a siphon created from flowing air. Start with this airbrush first and you will save a lot of headaches.
2. Use the right airbrush paint - The two major players in the paint of an Airbrush shirt are CREATEX and AQUAFLOW. In my experience, AQUAFLOW “flows” a little better, but it is very noticeable. You can't go wrong with either of these two leading brands.
3. Use the right jersey - 100% pre-compressed cotton or 50/50 blend. (50% cotton 50% polyester). I had better results, washed the new jersey at least once, before applying an airbrush on it. This eliminates most of the free fibers, and also ensures that some of these initial colors disappear, which should occur.
4. Use good design - Take your time here. Awesome Airbrush t shirts don't just happen. First come up with a good design on paper. This way you can erase and make any corrections before applying paint on the shirt. It takes some discipline to paint first and Airbrush second, but trust me, you'll spend a lot less shirts that way and end up getting the best finished product every time.
5. Get convenience - Keep the working area clean and work at a comfortable height. I prefer to stand when I do airbrushes. As an easel, I use a large board with shelf hooks. This makes it easy to adjust the height of my T-shirt, so I'm always in a comfortable position for the Airbrush without the need for a knee or stretch to complete the move.
6. Prepare a shirt - After it is once washed, wipe it to get wrinkles. Wrinkles act like magnets to spray paint over the airbrush. Use clips or clothes pegs to secure the shirt on the shirt board so you have a nice flat surface. To achieve maximum color stability, apply a layer of frog juice or CREATEX transparent filler to the area you want to paint first, heat it, then paint over.
7. Take your time - There is no rush. Until you go to the show and start doing shopping malls or swaps, take the time to learn the skills. Speed is important, and it will go with time, but for now focus on each beat. Less too. Try to get this perfect wilt in 1 pass instead of 2. The less paint you put on the shirt, the better.
8. Play in your strengths - It's certainly good to be universal, but if there is one particular area of Airbrush shirts where you really succeed, go for it! Find out what is best and what you like to draw more, and then master this area. It is easier to create a reputation to be the absolute best on 1 thing than it is to create a reputation for a pretty dance in many different things.
9. Heat press - Spray your finished airbrush shirt with another layer of CREATEX transparent expander, use a warm heating press, set it to 400 degrees for 20 seconds.
10. Rinse and repeat - If you have just completed the first 9 steps, you could probably be quite far away, like an Airbrush shirt. rtist, but who wants it?
