Prequote stage
First of all, I would like to point out that I am not going to patronize anyone with any of my letters here, I simply expand my knowledge from within the industry to allow the consumer to have more confidence in solving any possible cowboys who belong to their home or industry . The way I see it at the moment is that many cowboy traders are disguised as professionals behind logos written in minibuses, the so-called guilds and associations, which only require participation fees, and in fact does not mean that they are good traders, so be careful! Check them out before allowing them into your home, or go only for a personal recommendation, where you can see their work done for a friend or family. In addition, there are several recommended sites for traders that you can check, just check the links and try to find the criteria necessary for their registration there or their affiliate association. Websites talk about who you are dealing with. I appreciated my honest opinion. As a professional tiler, this is all too frustrating to see how many people are still fooled by the use of cowboys who want to do work for maximum profit with minimal care.
Stage quotation
Assuming that you are satisfied with their credentials or intuitively, the company / attitude feels right, you are now at a point where you need to make contact with the company / person. It is extremely difficult to get an exact quote by phone, since each individual task has different scenarios, in my opinion, it is important that the company / tiler looked at the site before the quote.
Upon arrival at your promotions, a professional, in my opinion, will need to have the means to record information, some form of measuring equipment and a spirit level, at a minimum, to ensure an accurate and fair quote, I would be very concerned if there wasn’t roulettes for basic measurements. I would also expect eye contact, and good general behavior, feeling comfortable with your merchant, is important for good communication later if something happens. If you feel intimidated, go to another place. You may have to leave them in your house alone at some point, sometimes it is inevitable, you trust this person?
When they / she / she measured the area to be tied, ask the following questions or similar questions to establish their professionalism, and to get an idea of whether they know the correct procedure or not, you will understand the logical process of all this by collecting information at this stage, and you will most likely get an accurate second opinion if you need it.
1. How much preparation is required, and how long will it take? The answer should be something like; -x no. days to remove tiles / wallpaper / paint; x days to reschedule walls / floors or redevelopment / rendering to do well. (Sometimes it is necessary for the pliter to leave and think carefully, so he / she / they have to say it at this moment). They should also have a rough idea of the time for the actual work of the tile also at this point.
2 , Do you clean the surfaces in front of the tiles? The answer should be something like; All surfaces that need to be primed will be primed.
3 , How do you trim a window? (if applicable). The answer should be something like; I focus the tiles on the window and then cut them in the corners of the room when they fall (if you have a tile, it can be demonstrated there, and it is always convenient to have a sample of the tile in any case, so the work can be evaluated depending on the type of tile to install).
4 , How will the floor / wall be evened out? The answer should be something like: I center the floor / walls in accordance with the obstacles on the edges and the position of the pedestals (for example, the toilet / pool), if they are still removed, the tiles will usually be centered in the room and tiled to the edges to avoid belts at the edges and corners. At this stage, it is good to agree that the tiles will collide around, and if there are any patterns, the borders must be set or staggered. Thus, there will be no surprises for any party when it comes to the start of the tiling itself or during billing, when the price increases, because the work took longer as a result of individual design. Use your imagination the way you like; a professional tile can make almost any design with a tile, if you want to pay for it, of course, I too often find that consumers sometimes say they will have; No need, you have a choice!
5. How do you finish the edges and corners? The answer should be; silicone sealant on the edges of the floor (only if against plinths or tiled walls or left open if the plinth should be installed over the edges of the tile), silicone sealant for all internal corners of the wall and around the bath and the tank behind the lower plates prevent the ingress of water around the edges of the tub). At this point, you must agree that when you want tiles to be trimmed with open edges and outside corners, as with some tiles, this is not necessary, and you may want to have open corners with tile edges smoothed together. I would also like to hope that the tile will give you the opportunity for silicon to pick up the tiles and grout as close as possible, this is indicative of good faith.
6. What color solution can I get? The answer should be; I can find a suitable solution for you or a close color, or you can have any color you like (there are few of them, which cannot be - even brilliant pink). If you want to see a color swatch, most tile shops have grouting patterns, but please keep in mind that special colors may be more expensive and take some time to be delivered compared to stocks.
Think and remember a lot, but do not worry if you need to read it from notes, while there is a tiler, I never have problems with answering questions, because I know my things, and therefore any other player enters your home, my opinion, please do not hold back! I can pretty much say that after these questions you will recognize your merchant and their abilities well enough to make an informed decision at this stage. I am sure that they will show their true colors. There are so many good merchants who are deprived of work because of less concern among us, I feel with the experience I have gained over the years that it would be a shame to keep this knowledge from people, so I felt I had to share it with you and I hope that you will be able to use this format for any trade that you hire to work in your crowded house in the future.
