Fighting meteorological noise through stormwater management -2

With weather disruptions occurring in each season, it is important to take into account the problems of managing stormwater runoff. Of course, American cities and cities follow the rules that the federal government through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) promulgated and implemented.

The stormwater management program follows the strict goals of solving any problems related to public health and safety, water quality and the drainage infrastructure system.

But what is stormwater and how can it affect the lifestyle of Americans?

Stormwater includes rainwater and melting snow. From the roof and lawns, instead of just soaking it into the ground, it flows through the paved areas into the drainage system. As this water passes through different places, it definitely picks up pollutants and other pollutants before passing through the main storm sewer system.

Currently, the US National Stormwater Management Program focuses on minimizing or completely eliminating its harmful effects on the public. The threats of too much rain and melting snow are not limited to the health and environment of the nation. The protection and maintenance of the infrastructure of the drainage system also requires proper attention.

The infrastructure of the drainage system is more connected to physical components such as pipes, stream cans, culverts and storage tanks. Like any other infrastructure in the United States, the entire drainage system is subject to wear and tear and will eventually be damaged. Pipe damage and leakage are likely to occur over time without proper maintenance and monitoring.

In past winter storms, where massive layers of snow accumulated in almost every state of the country, we saw the effects of ice melting. A flood occurred as storm sewers cannot hold the amount of water. With rain showers, depletion of the entire drainage system is expected from time to time.

Stormwater management means protecting public health and eliminating potential hazards by complying with Federal regulations and guidelines for stormwater management. The development of hydrology, drainage technology and environmental management has changed the traditional concept of stormwater management.

Previously, it was exclusively designed to develop as quickly as possible a system for transporting fluid to a stream or river or to a large man-made or natural basin. Locations with a combined sewage system transport this drain to a sewage treatment plant.

Now it includes infrastructure projects that unite the aesthetics landscape, control the source of the flow, replenish natural watersheds and the green infrastructure approach.

Given the upward trend in storm water, have public infrastructure managers included a review of storm sewers in their long-term development plans?

Are cities ready for the financial demand for upgraded drainage infrastructure to cope with current and future infrastructure design factors?
