To get rid of unnecessary expenses and start saving more money, take a month and get receipts for everything you spend money on, even if it is as little as candy. Create a table that lists all the items you spend money on, how much you spend and why you spend the money. Then go through and decide whether these expenses are necessary or not.

Deciding what is necessary and not necessary can be a difficult task. The way I make this decision is based on whether I can change some of my usual expenses to save money. For example, looking at how much money I spent on food, I realized that last month I spent a total of 105 dollars for breakfast. What for? Because instead of having breakfast at home, I decided that it was easier to stop at some driveway and pick up breakfast.

If I made the same breakfast every day at home, I would save about $ 65. These were my savings only for breakfast, when I did the same for lunch and dinner, I realized that by changing my habits, I could save $ 300 just for my food expenses. When I applied the same calculations for my drinking habits, which is not so expensive for me as for others, I realized that I could save an additional 50 dollars a month.

This method may seem like nickel and is a valuable way to save money, but it does add up. Saving $ 350 per month, small changes will save $ 4,200 over the course of the year.

Although getting rid of unnecessary expenses requires a bit of time, effort, and commitment to changing habits that increase the amount of money you spend each month, income is saving a significant amount of money over time.
